Ubuntu - Linux for human beings[edit]

Ubuntu is a Linux distribution based on Debian GNU/Linux with gnome or KDE desktop. Ubuntu is the only distribution (i know of) that even sends out free CDs via snail mail.

Ubuntu is also a South African ethic focusing on people's allegiances and relations with each other. The word comes from the Zulu and Xhosa languages. A rough translation in English could be "humanity towards others." Another translation would be: "The belief in a universal bond of sharing that connects all humanity."
