Hey people!

Can I enlist your help with LitGASM? We're trying to use to tag all Discordian works on the net, and there's a TON of stuff here to go through!

Can I perhaps get a volunteer to index this massive pile of great stuff?

Hello, Good work, and I agree with your opinion. Thank you for it! Kisses, viavia

MattisManzel: The navigation bar on the left is empty for me, no recent changes and such.

We are Mediawiki 1.5! See Current events.

We seem to have a spam bot... the recent defacings seem to be the same but from IP's all over the place...

do we not have soem form of content banning, ie just ban the site that the links point to ...?

DrOwl 13:46, 24 May 2005 (CEST)

i just locked current events too, hummm DrOwl 19:13, 24 May 2005 (CEST)

The <customrc>Debian</customrc> command is broken, thats what caused the errors on my page... might need to update the msql query for the new version of mediaWikI i fiddled some pages so they now work including Custom_Recent_Changes --DrOwl 18:13, 26 Apr 2005 (CEST)

 1. This nights downage was caused by a full harddisk. Mutante 08:35, 27 Apr 2005 (CEST)
 2. Thanks for finding out DrOwl. I tested the mysql query manually in the console client, and it doesnt cause errors. So not the query itself. Dont understand yet what it is though. Mutante 08:43, 27 Apr 2005 (CEST)

Wikipedia article

I just wrote an article about s23-Wiki and posted it on Wikipedia. It's a bit short, so if anyone wants to contribute to it, they are welcome to do so. The link is here. JarlaxleArtemis 01:55, 5 Apr 2005 (CEST)

By the way, it is now taking an extremely long time for the s23-Wiki logo to load on the main page. JarlaxleArtemis 01:57, 5 Apr 2005 (CEST)

That's supercool, thanks, Burpsy-Jarlaxle! MattisManzel

See how our new Mediawiki 1.4 feeds other wikis - whao! Mattis-Manzel-wiki: recent near changes Patience, the page takes ages to load, but it's worth it. MattisManzel

good work guys. this sux that it keeps happening, cant wait for regex counter-spam measures will work -Kunda 16:27, 2 Apr 2005 (CEST)

Go to preferences, misc settings, disable: underline links. It gives you a better readability. The color transports the information that it's a link. This should be default, I guess. MattisManzel

Wouldnt it be interesting if there was a function that erased all inputs put in by a specific IP or username? -Kunda

- Go to the spammers Userpage, go to "User Contributions" and hit the "Rollback" links. (saves time already)

- Yes,i asked about a "one-click" solution to roll-back all entries by one user, it doesnt exist (yet), but it can be done via Mysql: something like "delete from cur where cur_name='Spammer'. Or one could make a shell script for this (or even include as a new special page?).

- In this case, it was especially annoying that the spammer put redirects into newly created pages. The redirects kept you from editing the page itself. You can add a "redirect=no" to an URL but still annoying. This kind of interwiki redirects is disabled in mediawiki 1.4. I asked in the channel and they helped me to remove it right away manually (in our current 1.3.9).Then we could easily remove the spam manually. Thanks to mediawiki developers good support!

- Interwiki redirects are now disabled

- In the case of huge spam attacks just make me do it in MySQL right away instead of starting a lot of manual work.

Mutante 14:37, 30 Mar 2005 (CEST)

Addendum: It seems this guy was a spammer on Wikipedia before and got frustrated there, so he was letting it out on other Mediawiki engines. Seems he wanted to redirect as much as possible to this one Wikipedia page. Wikipedia developers are informed of this and even checked our link.

While talking about this on the mediawiki channel Brion pointed out that Mediawiki 1.4 is now released (since 10 days, didnt check every day,so missed out on it). This means the next thing i get into is updating to 1.4 when i find the time.

Mutante 19:52, 30 Mar 2005 (CEST)

Can we make a shortcut redirect url for the recent pages.. i automatically type in the browser and do that extra step to double click on Special:RecentChanges. can we invoke the magic of Apache to do my bidding? maybe like --Kunda 14:41, 16 Mar 2005 (CET)

καλημέ?α. φαίνεται να δουλε?ει

you can view only major changes if you change the setting in your profile... but i think it would be best if that were a global setting for guests... plus the same thing happens on the rss feed.--DrOwl 01:33, 15 Mar 2005 (CET)

Mediawikis recent changes are far too too fast, we have to change something. They are much more useful on other wikis. Show only major edits, and use the minor-edit switchbox pretty often, that should help. activates minor edit automatically after your first edit, which is cool I think. MattisManzel

Merged, twisted and poked Special:Categories and you know what? there are still redundant things. like Art and Artists for example. So many categories hard to keep track of what exists and what doesnt. frustrating. i feel like its great to have alot of 'Cats' but at the same time..a huge portion dont get used and create more work..what can be done. will a Special:Template solve this somehow?

+ Mutante is there anyway to hack the wiki so it ~~~~~~ will produce yyyy-mm-dd

Merged the category Computers into Computer. Finn 10:46, 10 Mar 2005 (CET)

Let's continue Internal here please. MattisManzel 15:43, 8 Mar 2005 (CET)

oki seems like a good idea to me i tempo locked Internal page... --DrOwl 16:05, 8 Mar 2005 (CET)

Forum is the name I use for it, and there are pretty many of them on wiki already. wiki-node and forum. It's called WikiCafe, CoffeeMachine, FeastRoom and WikiRat elsewhere. We need the date entries when people come in signing without timestamp or not at all and to make people write at the beginning. Can InterNal be deleted? I've copied in earlier entries from Internal (which has been temporarily locked for cow-educational purposes) Seems like the categories places and locations should be merged.--MattisManzel

Maybe we should think of either moving 'Internal' to Current events or making the 'Current events' link in the Navigation a redirect to Internal or exchange the link title there or define some kind of seperation what belongs into which page. Maybe we need both, but what is for what then?

Mutante 01:59, 6 Mar 2005 (CET)

One more page besides Internal and Current events? Actually wanted to reduce them ;) Mutante 12:30, 6 Mar 2005 (CET) Lets clean up Category:Internal somehow.

Image Thumbnails now work. Installed "imagemagick" on th server. Use wiki syntax like . Mutante 01:56, 6 Mar 2005 (CET)

Repaired the RSS feed. There were blank lines/spaces somewhere that broke the XML syntax. Will now try to get an update on the jabber rss server of MiGri now. Then you can get our recent changes in your Jabber clients again. Mutante 01:21, 6 Mar 2005 (CET)

RSS Feed doesnt validate yet. Trying to fix... Mutante 01:30, 6 Mar 2005 (CET)

Sure, we have a forum. And we do not link here to talk on the forum/talk page instead please but rather use it for subdiscussions of dicussions or as a page to draft pages based on excerpts from text written here in the forum. MattisManzel

23:35 5 (5 changes; Page history) [Mutante (5×)] content "All things happen in Fives,..." A nice Syncronicity eh ? ;) ok,i admit i kinda pushed it a bit ,hehe Mutante 23:37, 5 Mar 2005 (CET)

old stuff copied in from Internal

is there some way we can change the RSS feed for the recentchanges to not include minor edits, i know we can change own own preffs, but that does not seem to have an effect on the rss feed i tried" but i still get the standard rss feed. --DrOwl 14:08, 1 Mar 2005 (CET) also there is no rss link in the header so FF isnt showing the pritty icon =) maybe we can get it added?

Recent Changes for "sub-wikis":

Here we go with a first simple RecentChanges page for the TingWiki. On our way towards hiving, Mattis! ;) Mutante 01:25, 1 Mar 2005 (CET)

Good news for Mattis: I already found out the right mysql statement to get a sub-RC page for ting (or other wikis), picking by page name comes out to be a lot easier then doing it by categories so far. But seems to be no problem to me , since subwikis will always be under their Homepage. Mutante 23:48, 28 Feb 2005 (CET)

select rc_id,rc_title from recentchanges where rc_title like "Ting%"; (for my own near future use)

Usage of templates:

Holy Chao!

This is an example template to show you the use of templates. You can put this bit of wiki code everywhere by simply inserting Example. You can edit the template on Template:Example and you could make new templates by just opening a new Template:Fnord page.

check the source of this and be surprised. Mutante 22:17, 28 Feb 2005 (CET)

Now we focus on Special:Deadendpages which are pages that dont have any internal links. Kunda 12:22, 27 Feb 2005 (CET)

On the existence of sub-categories to organize categories:

<mutante> are there just ies or also subcategories like  ?

<brion> mutante: there's nothing inherently special about a / in the name, but you could name categories like that.

<dammit`> mutante: you may set a category for another category, this way you do some kind of sub..

Mutante 10:30, 27 Feb 2005 (CET)

Finished categorizing all pages! :)

Got the RC-IRC-Bot working after a few problems in the beginning (path to mysql sock, wikidb user, needed to apply "rc_id"-patch. TimStarling helped on IRC. Now we got the bot sitting in #wiki on Efnet. Join there and make an update here and you will see. :) Mutante 12:13, 26 Feb 2005 (CET)

Added Wanted pages link to toolbox by request. Afraid an unclean hack though. (as always ;) Mutante 10:14, 26 Feb 2005 (CET)

Mutante, can we add a 'Wanted pages' link to the navigation or toolbox or as a link to the accompanying table of teh wiki template page? I seems to be a good idea to me. "Discuss amongst yourselves" Kunda 11:55, 22 Feb 2005 (CET)

Arf, that spammer was here again. Adding another string to wgSpamregex made it break. it didnt prevent that content, but now fixed. Mutante 09:17, 17 Feb 2005 (CET)

Spam protection filter found & enabled. The first string i blocked is "p i l l s b o o" (see the according spam in RC. and it works, try posting it into any page without the spaces, will be blocked;)-checked. Works. mm 18:06, 14 Feb 2005 (CET) . now redirects everything to the new wiki. (perl http header redirect). since it tries to redirect to the right wiki page, we should leave (major) CamelCase redirects intact (move the page, but dont delete redirect).

Since the redirect we got all the traffic here and we can also welcome the first spammer who has been blocked right away.

S23Wiki:Block log (diff; hist) . . Mutante (Talk) (blocked "" with an expiry time of 23 days: spammer)

Mutante 01:36, 14 Feb 2005 (CET)

Imported complete content from the discontinued german drogenwiki !, we have about 350 new pages with information about drugs in german at once and we keep the information alive.

Had to fiddle with usemod import script and move a few pages in subpages, but seems to work now (even umlauts, which i replaced semi-automatic in a text editor in the sql file BEFORE importing it this time. Mutante

Lets think of the best way to merge InterWiki and InterMap into one big working interwiki page with a name that is also used by most other wikis. (and/or leave redirects in this case) Mutante 11:17, 12 Feb 2005 (CET)

Check out the the usage of categories on the wiki to give some structure. Mutante 22:22, 10 Feb 2005 (CET) (ill always just sign with four tildes, instead of making that timestamp, creates time automatically, quick and nice,ok?)

050209 Crap! I forgot to look at this page! I'm adding it to my 'Watch' list right now. Sorry Mutante :( ..deleting the redirects, actually thanks to Mattis, he was the one that told me on the chan to not delete the CC pages.

 1. Disambigous Pages in Special:Maintenance is broken.
 2. Where is the spam related stuff for this wiki, we still waiting for the upgrade?

Btw this wiki engine is fucking wicked! if i haven't mentioned that enough times yet. Kunda 13:48, 9 Feb 2005 (CET)

060207 Did you notice the css and logo changes? still working on it of can select different skins in preferences, by the way. Mutante 23:02, 7 Feb 2005 (CET)

060206 ah, this is very useful, you dont have to use the long syntax like Mutante to display your username everytime you sign a comment:

you can simply sign with tildes (when logged in):

three tildes ~~~ produces Mutante.

four tildes ~~~~ produce Mutante 23:42, 6 Feb 2005 (CET)

five tildes ~~~~~ produce 23:42, 6 Feb 2005 (CET)

found here

Mutante 23:42, 6 Feb 2005 (CET)

060205 "substituting CamelCase for Camel_Case" hmmm, not quite sure, first lets do all the single word camel cases. For two word pages in seems still ok (might change our view on this once we got the rest cleaned up.) Notice that every moved page produces an extra redirect old page in the list of all pages. You can also help by finding single [ bracket ] wiki links and change them to links. And enabled image file upload, by the way. (check [extended image syntax] Kunda, i see you have been deleting the old CamelCase redirects, that made me think that we maybe need to keep some of them because other pages (and google) is linking to them and we dont want to break all those old URLs...hmm..

060205 If you are helping with the migration from CamelCase to is a tip: Use the "What links here" function in the footer. Helps to fix broken internal-wiki links --Kunda

050205 I was just wanting to get a bit more organized as to how we are linking things in the wiki? We are moving from CamelCasing as i understood..So i've been substituting CamelCase for that ok? or are their different views out there? Kunda

/me sacrifices virgins to mutante --kunda

Database errors fixed.!

Had MySQL "error 145". The table "old" had crashed.

Used "check table old;" and "repair table old;" and it works again.!

Block lists

Hi Yall,

can we not imploment block lists...

ie once a day we get a few IP black lists and block there access to the site.

i say this as most of the recent spammers have allready been listed as spammers.

ill try to find my old notes on this =)

<jargon />
