    17th century indian poet.

    Descripton: Esoteric and Comical

    Poems

    First He Looked Confused[edit]

I could not lie anymore so I started to call my dog "God."
    First he looked
    confused,

then he started smiling, then he even
    danced.

I kept at it: now he doesn’t even
    bite.

    I am wondering if this
    might work on
    people?

    I Might Act Serious[edit]

If God would stop telling jokes
    I might act
    serious.

    A Good Poem[edit]

A good poem is like finding a hole
    in the palace wall–
    never know what you
    might
    see.

    The Price[edit]

If you treat the opposite sex with reverence
    will you pay a price?
If you stop your fault-finding and covetous ways
    will your earnings not suffice?

If you sit in prayer and meditation
will it cost a living wage?
If you trust the words of realized souls
will your boss forget your pay?

Is it a burden to pursue wisdom?
Do you fear the price it brings?
    Tuka says,
Fools worry about the little stuff.
Don't they know? God brings everything!
