    Syntax for Spam blacklist

    Syntax is as follows:

    • Everything from a "#" character to the end of the line is a comment
    • Every non-blank line is a regex fragment which will only match hosts inside URLs
    • "-" chars do not need to be escaped i.e. "\-"
    • Comments need to be in new a line
    • Typing "/(chars)/" should seperate out 'chars' from any url syntax

Add your requests for addition / removal here:)

    • staticid.hn.org
    • host.fdns.net
    • rightplace.mp4.com.tw
    • rxmed.tk.to/fioricet
    • pro.dns2gooffice.com

    Discussions

    A request:
For organization purposes, if "There's a Problem...etc.." thread gets started, lets indicate answers for them (if there are some available) in the thread itself. That way we know that it was resolved or still an 'Open' discussion. Also dates would be helpful

    Organize spamblacklist?

Should we alphabetize (by domain?) so we dont make redundant entries, im thinking in the long run when our list gets longer? -Kunda

(Edit) Started to alphabetize and also break up and made a seperate are to add spam for pharmaceuticals. Moved the Syntax guidlines into this page at the top. Let me know if that works for all of us. -Kunda 12:19, 16 December 2005 (CET)

    Spam

whats the deal then with Sandbox#spamtest ? there are locks on the spamblocked links..

(Edit) I remember adding this problem. And it still seems to be broken, Unless im aloud to break it due to having admin privs (which i doubt since..we tested this one and admins are blocked aswell from spamming, right mutante?) -Kunda 12:19, 16 December 2005 (CET)

    Blocks http:// and hot https://

hummm the blocklist only blocks http:\\ not https:\\

(Edit) Is this still broken? Seems like it is: check out Sandbox#spamtest -Kunda 12:19, 16 December 2005 (CET)

    Usernames created for spam purposes

    • Don't they "whore up" the db? is there a way to erase them?
    (Edit): This is a non-issue, right? -Kunda 12:19, 16 December 2005 (CET)

spam blacklist not doing its job

for some reason i can add blacklisted urls to Sandbox#spamtest, is it because im an admin? -Kunda 22:52, 7 November 2005 (CET)

(Edit) cool its fixed now...there was a blank line in the spam list that broke the regx... and the filter works for admins too =) --DrOwl 00:13, 8 November 2005 (CET)
(Edit) humm well im not shore what its about but i thourght the blank line broke the reg x buton the mediawiki page they have loads of blank lines. so i have no idear why but it is working now =)

    Thanks You

I added coolhost.biz as a reaction to the last spam attack. Thanks to all who helped to despam. mutante 19:10, 4 November 2005 (CET)

    Should we Catagorize this page

mutante, should we catagorize that page or will that interefere with parsing? -Kunda

(Edit) I dont know ,i asked myself the same question -mutante
(Edit) Looks like at some point it got catagorized -Kunda 12:19, 16 December 2005 (CET)

I manually installed this patch to SpamBlacklist_body.php for mediawiki 1.5 compatibility. mutante 17:33, 17 December 2005 (CET)

(edit) so the upgrade broke the patch ? (for some reason i recall you patching it with the blacklist extension after you upgraded..or am i wrong?)-Kunda 17:49, 17 December 2005 (CET)

Well,i wasnt sure, and i looked into the SpamBlacklist_body.php file, and it didnt have the changes that patch makes so i applied them. But im also not sure if it is only needed for that local DB feature they mention. Hmm,it also says the page_name has to be moved to the Mediawiki: namespace. I wondered if we need to do that, and tested the latest Spam entries manually in sandbox. And it worked, so was not only looking in the old cur table. Shrug, since it works now, we probably dont need to touch it anymore. mutante 18:08, 17 December 2005 (CET)

    Blacklist Broken?

kunda, it didnt trigger on "cialis" because it was not part of the URL itself, but only the descriptive label. mutante 09:25, 20 December 2005 (CET)
