ma: we tested gobby last time, works pretty good yet. We should test it today too. As I'm behind a router (and have no access to portforwarding) I can't host a gobby session. We need someone to do that. Use the standard port and tell us your ip here so we can log in from our gobbys. The installation instructions are on the gobby-wiki.

lk: gobby test: Okay. I'll start a Gobby server, that shouldn't be too hard.
ma: your dream on gobby, decent.
lk: It was a dream where there was a post on Slashdot about some action Microsoft took, inverting the relationship between documents and applications. Then after it appeared on Slashdot, Microsoft had a bunch of people posting to Slashdot where they called everyone for a live conference on the subject. Everyone filed in to here what Microsoft had to say, and respond to it. Some of the dialog was about "We've heard that you believe we haven't been responsive, and we're doing this here now so that we can respond to your questions and blah blah blah..." Kind of an interesting dream.

lk: I'm looking into how to start a server, right now, and what I need to do to access it and what not.

lk: Well, hang on- I need to get the server software in place first

ma: no, every gobby can host unless you're behind a router, like I am. I can attend your session though. Standalone server implementation is rudimentary existent on gobby. Then we could use a permanent one like we do on moonedit/ting. You folks have to do a little magic on the development, last time xorAxAx and ThomasWaldmann added two tickets on the gobby tracks-system (where theit wiki is too).
lk: My Windows computer (this one) is behind a router. I can port-forward, however, I believe.
lk: That said, it may be easier for me to figure out how to set it up on Linux, than to port-forward...
ma: I am not capable to port forward. Neighbor's router.
lk: Investigating.
lk: Yeah, I don't remember the password for the router; That's something Amber last touched. I'm trying to call her...
ma: defauts are 0000, that's how I discovered mine in Berlin. Here I also lost the password.
lk: Default is no good; it's not working. {:P}= I may need to attempt a Linux install.
ma: tings can be long sometimes. Mybe someone else comes along who can host. Have you got the taoriver ( cafoscari data left?

lk: Yeah, it takes a couple hours to do, and it takes a little while to get set into it. Okay. Just a sec...
ma: drop it, more important thing. The offtopic stuff I built ther was k, but some hours, no definetely no.
gobby seems to have an issue with uft-8 carakters, but it works pretty good.
lk: The installer seems to have hung, downloading gtk_setup.exe.
ma: first gtk. it downloads another component.
lk: Oh, okay, we're going fine now, hang on... Installing GTK+ Runtime Environment 2.6.7-rc1... Now gtkmm, ... Okay, now for gobby itself, ...

lk: My IP is 216.254.10.144, and that information doesn't mean anything right now, because I don't have Gobby running yet, nor have set up the port forwarding. I don't even know which port to forward, at this point. {;D}=

ma: It was less than a seond before I tried to save, that you shut down the server, that's where our opinion of "fast" is reverted. I'll try to paste it.
heck. gobby hangs. Is gone, I fear. Anyhow. Paste it into ting25 talk on ting wiki if you have it soewhere.
