FOAF

FoaF ist das Acronym für "Friend of a Friend" und ein Projekt, das sich mit der Verknüpfung und den Tätigkeiten von Personen unter Zuhilfenahme des RDF-Datenformats des semantischen Webs beschäftigt. Es geht dabei um die Erschaffung maschinenlesbarer Webseiten, die Personen, die Verbindung zwischen den Personen und Dingen, die sie erschaffen und bearbeiten und ihre Interessen darstellen. FOAF bietet Konventionen an, mit denen sich Fakten wie "Mein Name ist", "Ich arbeite für...", "Ich interessiere mich für..." usw. für einen Computer lesbar und verarbeitbar mitteilen lassen. FOAF ist ein Projekt des "Semantischen Webs", das Computern die Navigation, Verarbeitung und Erarbeitung von Informationen vereinfachen soll. [siehe FoaF-FAQ]
FOAF is a way to describe people and relationships to computers. FOAF stands for Friend Of A Friend. Technically, it is an RDF/XML Semantic Web vocabulary. Because of this, FOAF data is easy to process and merge.

Friend of a Friend (FOAF) is a phrase used in some social sciences as a half-joking shorthand for the fact that much of the information on which people act comes from distant sources (as in "It happened to a friend of a friend of mine") and cannot be confirmed. It is probably best known from urban legend studies.
